Our Two Year Olds enjoy a year full of wonder and discovery. Through carefully supervised indoor and outdoor play, combined with introductory readiness activities, our two year olds find success in this first exposure of a small group school experience, which overall sets the framework for their growing independence and love for school.

The Three Year Old Program at Mohawk Country Day School focuses on building social/emotional skills and confidence. Children are exposed to a full range of academic readiness skills in areas of communication, pre-reading, number development, fine and gross motor skills, science and more. Our three year olds enjoy an abundance of opportunities to be creative and have fun during whole/small group activities, teacher-led instruction, playtime and at their special electives: Art, Library, STEM, Music, Nature and Physical Education.

Mohawk Country Day School’s four year olds enter our nurturing environment to build basic school readiness skills, creativity, and gain social experiences. Children engage in both whole class and small group activities that expose them to a full range of academic readiness skills as compared to The New York State Pre-Kindergarten Standards, including: Social and Emotional Development, Communication and Language Development, Literacy: (pre-reading, phonics, writing), Math, Science, and Social Studies. Furthermore, our four year olds thrive during choice time, indoor/outdoor play and at their special electives: Art, Library, STEM, Music, Nature and Physical Education.

At Mohawk Country Day School, we believe that every child learns and grows at their own pace. Our Young Kindergarten Program is specially designed to offer an enriching and supported academic year to children who may need a bit more time before they are ready to enter the local private and/or public schools. We are proud to be licensed by the New York State Education Department and work hard to integrate key skills throughout daily activity and instructional practice to support and prepare our young kindergarteners for all future learning. In addition to academics, the young kindergarteners engage in a wide variety of creative, choice and play time both indoors and outdoors, as well as special electives: Art, Library, STEM, Music, Nature and Physical Education.

Mohawk Country Day Schools’ Kindergarten is a rich and engaging program that aligns directly with the New York State Education Department Standards. Children are exposed to an abundance of academic practices and skills in all areas, including: Work and Study Habits, Social, Emotional and Personal Development, Communication and Language, Reading, Writing, Phonics, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies. Our kindergarteners are taught by experienced and exceptional teachers who make learning diligent and fun. In addition to their academics, the kindergarteners enjoy choice and play time, as well as their special electives: Art, Library, STEM, Music, Nature and Physical Education.

Our enriching first grade curriculum lines up with the New York State Education Department Standards and allows space for accommodating activities and lessons to each child’s needs and abilities. The first grade students work in small groups and one on one settings to practice key academic skills in all areas, including: Work and Study Habits, Social, Emotional and Personal Development, Communication and Language, Reading, Writing, Phonics, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies. In addition to their academics, the first graders enjoy choice and play time, as well as their special electives: Art, Library, STEM, Music, Nature and Physical Education.
